I have conducted a few webinars on how to build your LinkedIn profile. Even have an online course for free on this topic on my website.
The webinars and online course content were structured to enhance and develop the Personal Profile on LinkedIn.
But many students and webinar attendees raised the question of how to build followers for the Company page.
Before getting into the topic, let me tell you, followers count is just another vanity metric, it doesn’t matter.
I repeat, it doesn’t matter.
What matters is the relevancy of the page followers to your company’s ideal customer avatar.
Let me share some of the tips which can help you build followers for your LinkedIn company page.
The two easiest ways to increase followers for your LinkedIn page are
- Invite all the people in your profile to follow the page.
- Sending messages to all the people in your network to follow the page.
Many people do this, but please don’t do this blindly.
Do this only if the person you are inviting or sending a message to is relevant to your business.
And if you send messages to people in your network to follow the page, DO NOT send this immediately after connecting with them.
Take some time, build a relationship with them, and later send a message requesting them to follow the company page if the content is relevant.
Now let’s look at other ways to build followers for your company page.
Give what your audience wants.
You would have shared a lot of content in the past. You already have enough data on your page.
Look at the insights and find what type of content on your page has more engagement.
So your followers prefer to know more about such content than create similar content.
Encourage Employee Advocacy
Identify the Key Employees in your company who could be the face on social platforms, and encourage them to be active on LinkedIn.
If they don’t know how to build or create engagement on LinkedIn, enroll in my video course ‘LinkedIn Organic Blueprint’
Encourage the key resources to be consistent on LinkedIn and create content regularly.
Note: The important point is that whenever they create any content relevant to your company’s customer avatar. They have to include a CTA ‘Follow @CompanyName for more updates’ at the end of the content.
Run a Challenge
Create a user-generated content challenge from the company page.
Request the employees to participate in the challenge and spread the news across the network. More fun and engaging the challenge is, the more people engage and follow your company page.
Internal Engagement Pod
Most companies have an internal communication tool like Slack or Team or any other platform.
Whenever there is an engaging post or content on your company page, circulate it among the employees using the internal communication platform and encourage them to engage in the content, even asking them to tag relevant people.
Content Repurposing
Similar to engagement pods, rather than asking employees to engage in the content.
Ask them to recreate the content in their own words and share it on their profile, along with the CTA end of content, to follow the company page for more updates.
Going Live and Sharing Video
If you have LinkedIn Live access for your profile or company page, then go live and invite the key employees as a guest and address some of your customer’s pain points, how you could solve them, and answer some Q&A in the live session.
Video engagement will help in building a better relationship with your followers.
If you do this the right way, you could build genuine followers for your company page and get good engagement.
Do not take shortcuts. It would take time, but it is worth the effort.
